At Comfort The Nation, we are committed to creating lasting change by meeting both immediate needs and long-term opportunities. We believe that education and basic necessities go hand in hand—you can’t learn if essential needs aren’t met, and providing essentials without education doesn’t create lasting impact. That’s why we focus on both.
We believe that education and basic necessities go hand in hand—you can’t learn if essential needs aren’t met, and providing essentials without education doesn’t create lasting impact.
That is why our work is two-fold.
we are committed to creating lasting change by meeting both immediate needs and long-term opportunities.
The Whitney Michele Impact Scholarship was established to honor the remarkable life and legacy of Whitney Michele—a woman whose presence radiated the peace of Jesus and whose life was marked by unwavering obedience to God. She was a worship leader, a daughter, a wife, and the dearest friend of Comfort, our founder.
Whitney went home to be with the Lord—a profound loss to all who knew and loved her. Yet her light continues to shine through this scholarship, created in her memory to carry forward the impact she made on so many lives. She was a true light in the world—serving others with grace, intention, and joy. Whether through quiet acts of kindness or bold steps of faith, she continually asked, “How can I be a light to those around me?” And then she lived the answer. Her deep love for the Lord shaped every part of her life. She led with compassion, walked in peace, and inspired all who knew her through the way she lived and loved.
This scholarship exists to carry that light forward—by supporting individuals who reflect Whitney’s heart: those who lead with purpose, serve with humility, and strive to make a lasting impact in the lives of others.
Comfort The Nation is currently in the process of securing official 501(c)(3) nonprofit status. This is a major step forward that will allow us to expand our reach, access more funding opportunities, and provide tax-deductible benefits to our generous donors. We believe that becoming a recognized nonprofit is essential to achieving the greatest possible impact in Liberia and beyond.
To ensure that we are completing this process with integrity and excellence, we’ve assembled a team of professionals to guide us:
Pat Gibert, Attorney at Law — A lawyer specializing in nonprofit law, Pat is leading the preparation and filing of our 501(c)(3) paperwork. (We have every hope that we will be accepted and legally recognized as a non-profit by August 2025) He is also consulting us on best practices for board governance, bylaws, compliance, and long-term legal structure.
Liz Kinsfather, Kinsfather Consulting — A nonprofit specialist, Liz took our first initial steps by filing our preliminary paperwork, advising us through the operational and strategic aspects of forming and running a mission-driven nonprofit. Her insight is helping us build a solid foundation for growth and sustainability.
This journey requires a significant upfront investment of both time and money. Filing fees, legal consultations, and compliance planning come at a cost of several thousand dollars, which we are actively fundraising to cover. PLEASE CONSIDER DONATING TO THIS CAUSE TODAY! It’s also been a labor of love for our board members, who are working hard behind the scenes to bring this vision to life.
We want to be fully transparent:
At this time, donations are not yet tax-deductible. We are waiting for our official IRS designation and will share updates as soon as it is approved.
In the meantime, your support still makes a powerful impact. Every donation goes directly toward our mission of uplifting and empowering the people of Liberia. We are committed to transparency, accountability, and keeping our community informed every step of the way.
Thank you for standing with us on this journey. Together, we are building something that will serve many — now and for years to come.
Since 2014 we have been fundraising to empower & change lives for the people of Liberia.
When our founder travels to Liberia, she brings Comfort the Nation’s mission to life in powerful and personal ways. Each visit is filled with deep connection, joy, and lasting impact.
Through these trips, she continues to live out both pillars of our nonprofit’s vision—meeting essential needs and empowering through education and faith. With the support of local partners, she distributes vital provisions to families and leads cheer clinics for young girls, creating safe spaces for them to move freely, express themselves, and dream big.
She also shares words of encouragement, reads scripture, and speaks life into the community—reminding each girl of her God-given worth, strength, and purpose.
100% of proceeds from our store support our programs in Africa.
We accept essential items such as clothing, school supplies, and hygiene products.
If you'd like to support our work financially, you can send donations!
